I now have corrective eyewear, for the first time in my 37 years. Specifically, to correct near-sightedness and an astigmatism. I have to admit it's kind of weird, mainly because I've gone so long without glasses. I had that outside (and ridiculous) hope that I'd never need 'em. Heh. But, as I could no longer easily read road signs in the distance, and clocks on the far wall had to be estimated where exactly the minute hand was, it was time. The glasses work, and I'm getting used to them. I'm wearing them all the time for now (except right now, in front of the pooter) so I don't lose them. We went hog-wild- got the transitioning lenses, with scratch-proof and UV protection! Woo!

They will still need adjusting to. I am discovering that I feel short when wearing them, and I think that it's because what is directly below me is more in focus, and that's making it look closer. It's caused a stumble or two, and probably will continue to do so until I completely adjust to the new look.

I want to publicly thank my wonderful wife fiannaharpar for all her assistance in this. This was kinda hard for me. Part of me saw needing glasses as an indication that my body was beginning to break down. Trust me, I know *plenty* of friends with glasses, and see loads of kids with them, so I realize the irrationality of that feeling. My sweetie helped me pick the frames, gave suggestions for wearing them all the time at first, and has been very supportive in all of this. When I asked Pookie how I looked, she said, "You look even more like a dad!" I'm not sure how to take that...

I have a poll that I want to put up, but that will have to wait for the time being, since it be bedtime. I did take the time, however, to share ( pictures of the new specs. )

I feel dumb for it, but I almost regret changing. But it's time.

How do I get my tags to show in the sidebar? I liked that option.

EDIT: This was using 'Red Rock', which was cool but not enough meshed with what I want to see in my journal. Now the style is 'Carson Red'.
