Getting physical
Jul. 11th, 2007 09:48 pmOk, so thanks to
baronalejandro, I now own Bill Phillips' "Body-for-LIFE" book. (yes, that's how it's printed. overandoverandoverandover) It's about his 12 week program to get you into really good shape. I'm trying it. Hey, it couldn't hurt, and since I still have 3.5 weeks at Chatham, with the use of their gym equipment, now is the time to do it.
Though I missed today's workout due to forgetting interview material and having to turn around this morning, I still feel the effects of the upper body workout from Monday. I'm sure doing sun salutations in the morning is prolonging that effect, but so be it. The program rotates upper body weights, lower body weights, and aerobic routines for results. The Pilates work that I've already done I think are helping me out to. Tomorrow I try lower body weight lifting for the first time. I need to find the right weight levels so it's going to be more awkward, like Monday was, until I discover what's right for me. The real challenge will be extending this beyond Chatham's camp, in August and beyond.
I guess I oughta take a 'before' pic and post it, should I manage to complete the 12 weeks to take the 'after' and compare. And while I started this because of my interest and pursuit of SCA heavy weapons fighting, I'm more interested in the longer-lasting effects. Being better in shape. Having the energy to last all day without crashing. And, kicking some ass on the list field wouldn't suck, either, but that's the fringe benefit. I want to make this work. But with so much transition still occurring, it's unclear how.
And, you're welcome for the ear-worm. :-P
